Rankings you can audit. We started with VPNs — the industry that lies the most: fake “83% off” discounts, rented rankings, and renewal prices buried in fine print. Our whole site is built to make those lies checkable. Now the same standard covers privacy software, learning apps, gear, supplements, and fragrance.

Count the audits
Every independent security audit a provider has published, listed by name and year — not “audited” as a vague badge.
Publish renewal prices
The intro price is marketing; the renewal price is the real price. We maintain a public renewal price database so you see both.
Quote policies verbatim
Logging policies and privacy policies, compared line by line in our policy comparison — not summarized by a copywriter.

Speed and streaming rows say “lab pending” until our test rig measures them. Read why we show untested products.
How we test
Every score follows a published protocol — our 10-step hands-on test protocol for what we can measure in the lab, community-sentiment aggregation for what we can't. We buy at full price where we test (no review units, no favors), verify the paperwork where it exists (audits, jurisdiction, policies), and publish the evidence on the page. Scores are launch scores until real measurements or samples exist.
How the money works
We earn commissions through affiliate links on this site — that's what keeps the lights on. But commissions don't move rankings. Providers with no affiliate program at all (Mullvad, IVPN) are still mentioned where relevant; we'd rather lose the commission than hide the option. See “Why isn't X ranked?” on our best VPNs page for the providers we mention without earning a cent.
What's next
The test rig is being built now — real speed trials, leak tests, and streaming unblocks, replacing “lab pending” rows one by one. We track prices through Black Friday season in our deal tracker, and we run shill-filtered community-sentiment tallies for categories no lab can score, like fragrance and supplements.
